Lucy is growing like a weed, and somehow I blinked and she is 16 months old. I know, I know, I don’t understand how it happened either. I was talking to one of my fellow mom friends the other day, and she said one of her favorite things she’s done every month is write down all of the new words her daughter learned that month! I thought that it was such a good idea, and I wanted to share them here for my own personal memories……God forbid I write them in her baby book;) These are all the words I could think of at 11pm, so there may be a few more, but listing them all just makes me smile. I can’t wait to see all the new words she learns in the next few months. Homegirl is TALKATIVE.
& just like that, our baby girl is ONE. Holy moly, when did that happen?! One year ago I was in the hospital recovering from a craaaazaaaay labor and delivery (read all about it here), and soaking in every last moment of Lucy’s newness. I know everyone says it, but wow…..it flies. If I could describe this last year in one word, it would be happy. Lucy has brought so much happiness to our family, and I am so glad that she is OURS. She has grown into the sweetest, sassiest, and coolest little one year old right before our eyes, and I don’t know how we ever lived without her!
We celebrated Lucy’s First Luau this Saturday, and it was a blast! Almost all of our families made it into town for her party, and we are so glad they did! We ended up moving the date up a couple weeks because Saturday was literally the ONLY day we could get everyone together. So Lucy may have been telling everyone she’s “whuh” and throwing up her pointer finger when everyone asked how old she was, but she’s still my 11 month old babyuntil next Tuesday;) READ MORE »

We were spoiled with amazing weather last weekend, but this week we haven’t been so lucky. It’s been a chilly and rainy mess in our neck of the woods, so Lucy and I have been spending our days at the house working on her walking skills and snuggling the day away. I never would have dreamed that I would be content cooped up in the house, but Lucy has completely flipped upside down everything I thought that I knew. These last ten months of being a mama have been no question, the best of my life. This baby changed everything, and I have zero complaints. Okay, well maybe I have complained a little about the sleep deprivation, but she has been *knock on wood* sleeping through the night, so I just decided to block it out of my mind;)
My first Mother’s Day has been so wonderful, I couldn’t ask for a better day! Shane let me sleep in (even though I woke up an hour before everyone else……typical me.) He wrote me the sweetest letter, booked me a massage for this week, and made us all breakfast. Pancakes are my love language. After Lucy’s morning nap we headed to church, Shane took a few pictures of us that I am obsessed with, and then we went to my mom’s for lunch. I even took a nap this afternoon! An uninterrupted nap! It was the perfect day with my little family.
The only way I can get anything done while Lucy is awake right now, is if I stick her in a laundry basket. I don’t know why, but she lights UP when I bring one upstairs. Kind of like me when I get a glimpse of turtle cheesecake. I can’t help but smile. Anywho. I put a blanket in the basket, make sure there is something soft underneath it, and the girl goes to town. She leans forward, tries to balance, and nose dives over, and over, and over again. Endless entertainment for Lucy, and time to put away laundry in peace for mom. She was being extra cute today while she was doing it, and it was cracking me the ef up. This is also the first glimpse of that itty bitty tooth popping through, and that is also extra cute. Good golly, I LOVE HER.
These are the days.

I always dreamed of having a baby girl of my own, and I am happy to report back that it is as wonderful as I thought it would be. I love dressing her. I love pulling her hair up into a tiny little sprout. I love painting her toes. It’s not all rainbows and sunshine, she kicks my butt plenty of days; but she is my sweet little angel girl and I cannot thank God enough for bringing her to us.READ MORE »
Ohhhh, childbirth. The most painful, yet the most wonderful thing you will ever experience in your life. I spent months researching everything I possibly could about having a baby, but I never really had anyone tell me the extent of what you go through after the baby actually makes their way into the world. Well, wonder no more ladies- here are 7 things no one told me about having a baby.
Lucy started crawling at the very beginning of this month, and it went zero to 100 REAL quick. On the day of her baptism, she managed to crawl herself forward a tiny bit (just enough to impress the crowd #obviously). The next day though, she was full-fledged crawling! It was madness! We are so excited for her, but man oh man she is so fast. She crawled off the couch on my watch this week, and I still have mom guilt about it. The first of many spills I’m sure. Live and learn. Having a mobile baby is a whole different ball game of parenthood, I don’t even know what I’ll do when she starts running. Ahhhh. I don’t even want to think about that.READ MORE »
Happy Friday, friends! This week there was a fiasco with my website host, and my blog was deleted for four entire days! It was a total nightmare, and my last few posts were not recovered, but hey….my blog is back, and I am in sunny Florida, so we are good;) In case you didn’t see the photos from Lucy’s Baptism into the Catholic Church on Sunday, I am sharing them again here….Thank you so much for being patient and following along! XO.
