We are so excited to announce the arrival of our baby girl, little miss Lucy Clare Albert! She was born July 18th at 7:38 am, weighing in at a perfect 6 lbs 12 oz & 20.5 inches long.
This last Sunday was definitely a Sunday well spent. My sweet nephew Rocklan was baptised into the Catholic Church Sunday morning, and Shane and I were so honored when we were asked to be his Godparents! Rocky is the sweetest baby, always so happy and snuggly…and he was such a champ during his baptism! Minimal tears were shed by him (his sister though, not so much;) My sister and her husband are such blessings in our lives, and I couldn’t love their little family anymore if I tried. After we spent the afternoon with my family, it was time for me to spend time with Shane’s! Shane’s mom, sister, aunt, uncle, and I all went to see The Dixie Chicks and it was MAGICAL. If you know me at all, you know that I have a top three must-see list of concerts:
Shania Twain (twice in one week, boom), Reba, and THE DIXIE CHICKS. When I saw last year that they were going on tour, there was no way I was going to miss out on that!
It was such a great night, they looked and sounded absolutely amazing! During the whole concert, I was picturing 10 year old me swinging in the backyard listening to Wide Open Spaces on my green Sony Walkman just living. the. dream. Ahhh, the good ole’ days;) Standing for three hours on the tip of your toes (#shortgirlproblems) isn’t exactly ideal at 33 weeks pregnant, but for the Dixie Chicks…I DEAL. Since Shane’s family lives several hours away, I always am SO excited to see them! So seeing them AND The Dixie Chicks was just an added bonus;) I hope you all had a wonderful weekend like I did!
I’ve been dealing with a nasty head cold this week, and it has not been fun! Mix my congestion in with the fact that my daughter basically lives in my ribs and on my lungs, I haven’t quite been a ray of sunshine. ESPECIALLY at night. My doctor told me to try taking some Benadryl to get some sleep and feel better, and let me tell you: It helped me sleep….However, it made me SO. MEAN. I am mean. Every time I woke up to pee during the night and I came back to bed, I felt the need to shove Shane out of the way, rip a pillow out from under his head and literally say “MINE” like a five year old claiming her friggin’ barbie doll. I even said, “can you not” every time he touched me. Yikes. Since I am so used to getting a sub-par night of sleep, I think it really threw my body off when I was in such a deep sleep that it reacted with anger. Whoops. I text Shane the next day and apologized for being mean and he tried to tell me that I am always mean in my sleep. I disagree. I find it hard to believe that I would still have a marriage if I was yelling at my husband CAN YOU NOT every single time he touched me. Personal opinion. Anyway, moving on.
Sunday afternoon, our baby girl and I were completely showered in love (& lots of clothes;). I’ve dreamed about this day for so long, and it turned out so wonderful. My mom and sisters planned the perfect baby shower for us…and I couldn’t be more grateful!
Dress: Boohoo (Non Maternity) HERE | Wedges: Sold out, Similar HERE | Tassel Garland: Target HERE
I definitely didn’t take as many pictures as I would have liked, but I was too distracted with everything going on! It was so nice to have all of my friends and family in one place, there really is nothing better. I was suuuuper emotional this day (I cried in the shower for absolutely no reason), so I definitely thought it would be waterworks central….But luckily I only cried twice at my actual shower! *Winning* I’ve spent the last three days going through everything from the shower and loving EVERY. SECOND. It is so fun! I just sit on the floor of her nursery folding her little onesies that smell like heaven and dream about her chunky little thighs in them, I can’t wait:) Thank you’s have already been written and sent, boxes and boxes of diapers are organized, and we are officially in full on nesting mode over here. 9 more weeks (or less!) until we meet this sweet little soul!
Only 100 more days until my due date…..Are you kidding me? When did this happen? WHO AM I? She will be here before we know it! I used to think 100 days was an eternity, but that feeling quickly went away when my wedding was 100 days away and I managed to procrastinate everything until the last month….It fleeeeew on by and I was not ready at all. Whoops. I’m trying to be slightly more prepared these days, even though I feel like there is still a long, long list of things that need done.
One year ago today, we were celebrating one of the best days I could have ever asked for. The weather was perfect and we had the chance to celebrate our love with our favorite people…We were on cloud nine! Fast forward a year later and we are still going strong, learning new things about each other and growing our marriage stronger everyday! I hit the jackpot.
I love this man I married more than I could ever imagine. He is my rock, I lean on him, I believe in him + trust the decisions that he makes. Marriage is by no means easy, but it is so worth it. We have flaws, we make mistakes, we argue about diaper bags (really)….But at the end of the day we are on the same team and seriously obsessed with each other. Shane was just made to be a husband, and I am so lucky to be his wife. We’ve got five years under our belt, one year married….Here’s to 80 more years, hot stuff!
Today my mom and sister walked into the same restaurant that my friend and I were at for lunch, and they handed me a bag full of clothes they happened to buy right before! There is nothing like little teeny, tiny baby clothes to really make your day. My mom has been seriously spoiling our baby girl, and I am not complaining! In the past two weeks, she has given us probably 15 outfits! I can only imagine how many we will have by the time she actually gets here;) READ MORE »
Happy Sunday! It’s a cold one out there…I mean, really cold. So cold that I refuse to leave my bed for the rest of the day! You can hold me to that;) My mother in-law was here all weekend being so sweet and cooking us a bunch of meals to freeze, so I am as content as can be right now. Homemade potato soup and a Netflix documentary? Yes, please.
If you’re wondering what I’ve been checking out on the internet lately, look no further! Here are a few links I’m loving currently:
– You can’t keep me off the Land of Nod Website. I think some seeeerious baby shopping will be happening on there. I mean just look at this bassinet!!!!! My mama heart can’t handle it.
– If you watched Making a Murderer, you NEED to read this. I was in tears while reading it…and I lost it when he started talking about Dolores and Allen. Enjoy.
– Winter is not my thing. My skin reeeeeally doesn’t like it. I didn’t think it was actually possible, but somehow my skin has managed to become even more dry since I’ve been pregnant! I’ve been slathering this belly butter all over my body and I’m loving it! Who says it just has to be for your belly;)
– I have been a pinning machine lately *cough cough* (follow me here)
– Adele’s carpool karaoke made me love her even more. But I mean, rapping my favorite Nicki Minaj verse? Come on.
Have a good week! XO
First off, thank you SO much for all the congratulations and well wishes about our news! Even though I am SO excited, I had a rouuuughhh week of morning (all freakin’ day) sickness. My doctor told me that the nausea would improve around 12 weeks, but yeah….That just didn’t happen. I’m actually pretty positive it has gotten WORSE. I’m still chuggin’ along though, because I just know it’s going to be so, so, soooo worth it. On top of dealing with lots of morning sickness, my grandpa passed away last week and we had his visitation/funeral over the weekend. I think I handled it all surprisingly well, considering I cry watching dog food commercials. Though sad and not the most ideal circumstances, it was so nice to have our entire family together for a couple days. We spent the time looking at pictures of us all and laughing at our ridiculous hairstyles over the years (so many crooked bowl cuts, so little time). Just how he would have liked it:)
That’s basically all that happened since my last post! Thankfully I managed to do a little blog planning while I’ve been sick, so there is going to be a lot more posts and organization coming! You just can’t get rid of me;) Also, I am getting so ANTSY to find out if this little bean is a boy or girl! I haven’t bought one thing, but oh my goodness have I been looking. Baby Gap is my weakness. I linked some of my favorite things down below! We find out the gender in 4 weeks, and I can promise you I will need to be restrained when it comes to buying baby clothes. THEY ARE SO CUTE AND LITTLE.
Happy almost New Year! Did I SERIOUSLY just go a month without blogging? Yes, yes I did. Instead of making excuses (because I’m sure no one cares), I’m just going to promise that it will never happen again! Seriously, never.
December was a crazy month, and I slacked hardcore when it came to Christmas. I didn’t put up a Christmas tree, didn’t buy any presents until December 21st, and I never even wore any Christmas pajamas. ARE YOU KIDDING ME MARYSSA? It was an off year. I’ll make up for it next holiday season;) With that being said though, we had an amazing Christmas. There is nothing better than getting to spend time with your favorite people ever. We even got an extra day with Shane’s family thanks to all the crazy winter weather that happened in Illinois over the weekend! Shane and I also decided to become obsessed with Making a Murderer on Netflix….OMG I will save my thoughts for another post. But if you haven’t watched, WATCH IT NOW. It took over my holiday weekend. Good times.
My blog is going to be my big project in the new year. Well, one of my big projects. Big things are happening with the Albert family, and I am so anxious to share everything! Here’s to 2016!
