Happy Wednesday, friends! I hope you had the best Valentine’s Day with your sweetie, and you were completely showered with love! Our little family went out for Mexican food to eat our body weight in chips and queso, and then we came home and were in bed by nine watching Shameless. It was casual, and really I couldn’t ask for more;)
Whew, that weekend flew right on by! We had been having a very Monday-ish Monday morning in our house, and I was so happy to open the door this morning to see that it was sunny and in the 50’s today! Fifty in February?! Those are two “f” words that go really, really well together if you ask me. I packed up this little lady, and we went on nice, long walk for some fresh air!
When Lucy was still cookin’ in my belly, I went on a walk almost everyday around our neighborhood, so whenever I take her on that same route I get a little nostalgic and a lot less winded. I am so obsessed with her, and now I am that mom taking pictures with my DSLR in the middle of the street. I just can’t help it, she is so darn sweet! I will be so sad when she outgrows this little bear suit, and that day will be coming waaaay too soon…But that means it’s time for bigger and better things, BABY SWIMSUITS.
Crazy hair. Food everywhere. That is one hot mess of a baby. My girl. We started Lucy on solids recently, and she has done so well with pretty much everything we’ve put in front of her. However, there is an exception…..avocado. She was very unimpressed by avocado. Avocadon’t if you will. See what I did there? Eh? Eh? Okay moving on.

With the exception of Lucy’s less than perfect delivery, (you can read about that here) I would like to think that I have had a relatively easy transition into motherhood. Lucy is overall, an AMAZING baby. She is so happy, healthy, and stinkin’ adorable. We are spoiled, really. I live for spending my days with her and I am so beyond grateful that Shane works as hard as he does so I get to stay at home and watch her grow. One thing that has not been the easiest thing to deal with though, is her sleeping habits. She is the best when it comes to bedtime, I can lay her down awake and she will usually pass right out….But staying asleep….ohhh man, home girl does not like to stay asleep.
She was an amazing sleeper for maybe a month, one glooorious month she slept through the night. Then she stopped. She was like, “ma I’m giving up sleeping through the night, COLD TURKEY”. We were dealing fine, she was only waking up one extra time…No big deal, I can do that. Until last week. Last week, Lucy started waking up anywhere from three to SIX times a night. Willy nilly, no time off limits for this girl. Everyone keeps drilling sleep training into my brain, but I am such a softy. I know she’s teething and just wants her mama. I run in her room as soon as she starts whimpering, and she has absolutely no concept of self-soothing. 100% my fault completely; but now here I am, almost six months in, trying to remember what it was like to ever sleep more than three hours straight.
2016, you were so, so good to us! It was hands down, 100% the most life-changing year I have EVER experienced. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary, I grew a baby, gave birth to our sweet Lucy, and we became PARENTS. We packed a whole bunch of firsts and a ton of happiness into 2016, and I can’t wait to see what 2017 brings! I have plenty of goals that I want to accomplish this year, and I can’t wait to share them with all of you! I couldn’t thank you all enough for following along on our journey, and I hope you have a blessed and healthy new year:) Bring it on 2017, xo.
I sat down to blog today and thought, oh…wow it’s probably been two weeks since I’ve sat down and written something. WRONG. It’s been a month!!!! I have never done that, ever! I could sit here and make excuses like, “blah blah motherhood babies four month sleep regression breastfeeding laundry” OR I can just say whoops and move right along. So, WHOOPS.
Speaking of sleep regressions, (not an excuse just an update) Lucy gave us a serious run for our money for a couple weeks. She was waking up four or five times a night every night and she was waking up at 5 am for the day. FIVE. A. M. Lord help us all. Luckily she figured it out on her own, and we are back to a regular sleeping schedule of waking up one or two time a night. Phew. That may or may not have had a large impact of my lack of blog posts, but once again…..I’m not here to make excuses;)
There really is not a ton to update you all on, we are just starting to find our groove as a family & we are enjoying the holiday season! There really is nothing better than having a baby to share these fun times with. I can only imagine how much better it gets every year! Lucy is obsessed with staring at the lights on the tree and grabbing the ornaments, she’s not sure what to think about the snow, and she really prefers being in a warm pair of footies hanging out on the couch (same, girl).
I have been spending my entire Sunday brainstorming and making a list of things to improve my blog, so I will be sharing those things soon! Don’t give up on me yet, better things are ahead! Thank you all for following along and reading about my super exciting whirlwind of a life*, I appreciate you. Really.

Now here are some really cute pictures of my baby. Have a good night!
Fall weekends are our favorite around here! Since I actually had a weekend off from volleyball tournaments, we decided to take Lucy to the apple orchard for the first time! My sister and her family came along, and between three kids we only had to deal with three or four meltdowns;) I don’t know how we got so lucky, but we have the happiest baby! She is always so smiley, and it seriously makes my heart burst every single time.
Her hat, my word….I am obsessed. It’s from Old Navy, and you can pick it up HERE. There is nothing quite like a baby bundled up for cooler weather, I want to kiss her cheeks all the time! Seeing the seasons change and celebrating all of these firsts through Lucy’s eyes is the best, she makes everything SO much more fun. I hope you all had the best weekend, and hopefully your Monday flew on by;)
Happy Thursday, friends! Since I don’t always have a chance to post on my blog, I thought I would share what has been going on recently on my Instagram! Life is so good here, everyday Lucy is learning something new and it is my absolute favorite! Follow me @maryssaalbert to always stay updated 😉

My cute fall baby!
Early fall mornings with my girl.
I’m just in love with how she has to touch my hand while she’s nursing!
One of us can fit into our jeans, one of us can’t;)
Our precious two month old!
Someone took her first successful crib nap!
We are so excited to announce the arrival of our baby girl, little miss Lucy Clare Albert! She was born July 18th at 7:38 am, weighing in at a perfect 6 lbs 12 oz & 20.5 inches long.
This last Sunday was definitely a Sunday well spent. My sweet nephew Rocklan was baptised into the Catholic Church Sunday morning, and Shane and I were so honored when we were asked to be his Godparents! Rocky is the sweetest baby, always so happy and snuggly…and he was such a champ during his baptism! Minimal tears were shed by him (his sister though, not so much;) My sister and her husband are such blessings in our lives, and I couldn’t love their little family anymore if I tried. After we spent the afternoon with my family, it was time for me to spend time with Shane’s! Shane’s mom, sister, aunt, uncle, and I all went to see The Dixie Chicks and it was MAGICAL. If you know me at all, you know that I have a top three must-see list of concerts:
Shania Twain (twice in one week, boom), Reba, and THE DIXIE CHICKS. When I saw last year that they were going on tour, there was no way I was going to miss out on that!
It was such a great night, they looked and sounded absolutely amazing! During the whole concert, I was picturing 10 year old me swinging in the backyard listening to Wide Open Spaces on my green Sony Walkman just living. the. dream. Ahhh, the good ole’ days;) Standing for three hours on the tip of your toes (#shortgirlproblems) isn’t exactly ideal at 33 weeks pregnant, but for the Dixie Chicks…I DEAL. Since Shane’s family lives several hours away, I always am SO excited to see them! So seeing them AND The Dixie Chicks was just an added bonus;) I hope you all had a wonderful weekend like I did!
