Lucy’s Bedroom Upgrade with Tarkett

September 15, 2017

This post is sponsored by Tarkett NA; however, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

When we bought our fixer upper back in March, it was hard to see the potential in this rundown hodgepodge of a house. The work was (and still is) completely overwhelming, but we knew there was a whole lot of life left in it, and it just needed some serious elbow grease. Unreal amounts of elbow grease. We still have PLENTY of work to do over here, but Lucy’s new bedroom is coming together, and the rest of the upstairs received a much needed makeover.

Lucy’s First Luau

July 9, 2017

Lucy's First Luau

We celebrated Lucy’s First Luau this Saturday, and it was a blast! Almost all of our families made it into town for her party, and we are so glad they did! We ended up moving the date up a couple weeks because Saturday was literally the ONLY day we could get everyone together. So Lucy may have been telling everyone she’s “whuh” and throwing up her pointer finger when everyone asked how old she was, but she’s still my 11 month old babyuntil next Tuesday;) READ MORE »

How to Keep Your Memories Fresh

March 29, 2017

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #GladeAtmosphereCollection #CollectiveBias

One of the greatest things about memories, is making them. Our Jamaican honeymoon was one of the best memories Shane and I have ever made together, and I will cherish those days on the beach for a lifetime. If there is one thing I remember from that trip, it’s all of the different scents. The coconut, the salty breeze, the pizza I ate every single day of the trip; I loved it, I loved it all! The NEW Atmosphere Collection™ Fine Home Fragrance by Glade® in the scent N°3 Free™, Coconut Beach Woods, is our honeymoon wrapped up into one perfect PlugIn®.

Glade PlugInsSince our honeymoon on the beaches of Montego Bay is one of our favorite things to remember, I like to incorporate it into our bedroom with the New N°3 Free™ Coconut and Beach Woods Glade® PlugIns® Scented Oil Warmer. It complements the calm atmosphere in our room, and it instantly takes me back to those peaceful mornings drinking my coconut coffee in the sand.READ MORE »

Bathroom Decor and Birthday Gifts

August 11, 2015

Happy Tuesday, friends! Do you ever have those days when you can not for the life of you remember what day of the week it is? That’s me basically every single day this week. Between work & coaching volleyball, life is buuuusssaaaay right now, so I am working on how to balance everything that needs done. I haven’t gotten groceries in 3 weeks, but hey at least my blog is updated right? Yeah, still working on that “balance”. Bathroom Design InspirationEven though my schedule is packed, you best believe I still make time for decorating. I am constantly checking out Etsy for new and quirky prints like this one from YAY Prints. It’s perfect in my teeny tiny bathroom. Slap that baby in a 3 dollar Ikea frame and you’re good to go.READ MORE »

Bedroom Redo Inspiration

July 24, 2015

Happy Friday! I’ve been doing laundry and cleaning since I’ve gotten home from work today, and I am OVER IT. So here I am, online shopping to redecorate our bedroom yet again. This is a routine every few months, you’ll catch on soon. I’ve linked some things that I am going to start adding to our room, and it’s taking everything I have to not pull the trigger on it all right now….*addict*

End Table | Mirror | My Side Pillow | Bed Set | You Look Good | Geo Light Pendant
I totally don’t need another end table, but this one is so pretty and it has Maryssa written allllll up on it. Same with the mirror, it is meant to be on my wall. There are two things that I can’t have enough of when it comes to decorating: mirrors, and pillows. So naturally, I need to add a few more to my collection;) Really I could go through and explain each and every item I linked, but that’s boring and not fun….Hard pass. I hope you have the BEST weekend, I get to see Shania Twain in concert Sunday; & that’s just about as fun as it gets:)

IKEA Trips and Weekend Projects

June 1, 2015

Happy June! Summer is officially in full swing….Minus the fact that it’s only 60 degrees in good ole’ Illinois right now, but that’s the Midwest for you. This weekend was a productive one, and I’m feeling goooood about it. Saturday, Shane went fishing and I spend a solid 10 hours deep cleaning the house. I don’t know what got into me, but I liked it. Never have I ever gotten so much satisfaction out of organizing a closet, but my goodness it felt great.

Sunday morning, Shane, my mom, and I headed to IKEA. Ohhh IKEA, love you so much. I found a new dresser for our bedroom, picture frames to finally display some of our wedding photos, a rug, and other random small things. I am seriously grateful that I live 2 hours away from the nearest IKEA because I would literally never leave….I would find a reason to be there every stinkin’ day, really. Shane was a trooper, not even second guessing when I said “I literally need these” to the hot pink hangers, pushing me around on the cart, and driving us all over God’s green earth on 2 hours of sleep. I think I’ll keep him around.

Our friends Damian and Natalie came over to show us their new sweet little puppy, and naturally we put Damian to work. 3 boxes, 3 people, 3 and a half hours later, our dresser was put together. I actually bribed my oldest sister that I would do her hair for free if she came and did it, because I was not about to put myself through that. While they did that, I worked on my garage sale score that I can’t wait to be done! I picked up a solid wood end table for $10 last weekend and it’s going to be perfect in our bedroom. I’ve been using 2 crates stacked on top of each other as a bedside table for the past 7 months, and I’m over it. I know that crates are a thing right now, but me knocking them over every other day when I stumble out of bed is getting old. Photo May 25, 6 35 07 PM
Photo Jun 01, 7 45 11 PMIt’s a work in progress, this thing is taking a ridiculous amount of paint. I will show it completed once I finish our bedroom *fingers crossed* this week. I am so addicted to decorating, I want to re-do everything a month after I finish it…It’s a sickness, I know. If you want to swap home decor and DIY ideas, follow me on Pinterest HERE & I will follow you back! Until next time 🙂

DIY TASSEL JEWELRY

May 21, 2015

If you are anything like me, when you see tassels on ANYTHING you have the urge to buy. However, sometime tassel jewelry is ridiculously expensive, so I am going to show you how to make a tassel, and how you can add it to pretty much anything for a fraction of the price!

diytassletutorial
diybeadjewelrydiytasslejewelrycraftSo first things first, you need supplies. I picked up all of these things at JoAnne Fabric for $15 dollars. Everything was on sale, but I will link some similar just as inexpensive options below. All you need for the jewelry I made is string, jump rings, elastic, and beads of your choice!
Gold Metallic Thread | Hot Pink Thread | Gold Jump Rings | Gold Beads (Amazing Deal)

diytasslehowtoStep 1: Wrap the string around your hand several times, make sure the thickness doesn’t exceed the width of your jump ring, or else it won’t slide through! Once you have a good size bundle, slide it off your hand
Step 2: Place the bundle you created into the jump ring
Step 3: Fold the bundle over
Step 4: Tie a piece of string around as tightly as possible, I triple knotted mine!

tasslehowto
Once you have the string tied tightly, cut the bottom loops as evenly as possible and whaaaabam, you’ve got a tassle! It is SO easy and the possibilities are endless. I ended up making a few bracelets with random beads I purchased and a tassel necklace that I am absolutely OBSESSED with. Figure out a bead pattern you like, and go for it! It was so fun and simple, and I spent less than $20!

I am most likely going to be adding tassels to everything, no shame in my game. If you try any of them I’d LOVE to see them! Until next time, XO.
