It’s been a hot minute, but I am coming at you with a September House Update! I am happy to report that we are seeing REAL progress…progress that makes me excited and gives me hope that someday we will actually live here! Someday. Since my last update at the end of May (read that here), I shared that Shane decided to do an addition, and now boom…..we have an addition. Shane and my dad had it completely built, from blocks to studs, to walls in just a few weeks. It was crazy!
These photos are looking into the kitchen, and looking out into the hot mess of a living room. Once the upstairs room is done we will take out this sliding door/wall and it will be one big open space! I am so excited for it!!!!These photos are of the upstairs room that will possibly be Lucy’s bedroom??? I go back and forth on which room to give her evvvveryday. Originally this room was just going to be a closet, but then they went for it and made it taller….now it is my favorite room! I love the pitch of the roof, and I can’t wait for this one to be done.
Once the addition was up and roofed, we put that project on the back burner. We started working on the upstairs bedrooms because I have an exciting project that has a deadline coming up, so Shane has been working like crazy to get it finished for me! Also whenever I say *we* I totally mean *Shane*. He works his little toosh off on this thing! He is doing drywall for the first time in this upstairs bedroom, and I think he is doing suuuuch a good job. Turns out though, he hates it and has now convinced himself to hire out the rest of the drywall work, so we will see about that;) He put in the new windows that make SUCH A HUGE MASSIVE DIFFERENCE on the inside and the outside of this house! The old ones were basically from the 1890’s (honestly they may have been….so rough) and they were painted this terrible blue color. Nice windows= instant improvement. This room will be finished by next week, so we will have one completely finished room….and many many many to go. We’re getting there!
So there you have it! Life is really bonkers right now. Between my Dad and I’s volleyball season, the house, and my sister moving in with my parents temporarily while her husband starts their own home renovation project, it’s just a zoo at all times. We’re figuring it out, rolling with the punches, and Lucy is getting lots and lots of cousin time while her dad builds her a house! I will be sharing a full video house tour here soon, once things settle down and the wall gets taken out downstairs, then I can really show what it’s going to look like! Exciting things are happening, and I can’t wait to start designing. SOON.
