When we bought our fixer upper back in March, it was hard to see the potential in this rundown hodgepodge of a house. The work was (and still is) completely overwhelming, but we knew there was a whole lot of life left in it, and it just needed some serious elbow grease. Unreal amounts of elbow grease. We still have PLENTY of work to do over here, but Lucy’s new bedroom is coming together, and the rest of the upstairs received a much needed makeover.
This space was previously a room covered in cracked plaster, blue trim, broken windows, and finished off with a lovely cork floor. Whew, luxurious. We ripped out everything and chucked it straight into the dumpster. Good riddance! Shane hung and finished the drywall, installed our new windows, and installed our new Tarkett Transcend SureSet Flooring…& let me tell you, we are HOOKED.
We went from this-
Renovating a fixer upper can be tough. Making every decision on fixtures, flooring, etc. can also be tough. When it was time to choose our flooring for the upstairs, I was worried it would be overwhelming, but it turned out to be the easiest decision I have made yet. Who knew? I sure didn’t. Turning this crazy house into a home can definitely be a scary process, but Tarkett’s Transcend SureSet Flooring took SO much stress out of this project for us.
Shane and I wanted something strong, durable, and waterproof for the upstairs, since it would be where Lucy and all other future Albert babies would be romping around and making messes. Tarkett Transcend SureSet met every single one of those requirements, and it’s been tested to withstand everything life throws at you! It’s so simple to clean, install, and you can even lift up the flooring to dry underneath or replace it if anything crazy happens. It’s completely repositionable up to 10x’s! AKA dream flooring when kids are in the mix;)I assumed that installing a floor would take days and days of manual labor with endless amounts of tools, but it turns out….I was completely wrong. Which is a normal occurrence for me, BUT Shane finished the entire floor by himself in just a few hours, with nothing but a utility knife, speed square (google it, I had too), and sheer manliness. It was a fool-proof DIY flooring update that anyone could do themselves! The color we chose is Lapacho Dark Natural and I LOVE it. Love. Love. Love. The dark flooring against the white walls looks so amazing, and the contrast is exactly what my little heart was looking for.
Tarkett’s SureSet flooring has so many features, but one that really stuck with me when I was researching this floor, was that it is great for allergen free homes! It can actually help with the breathing quality for those who suffer with complications like asthma. I never knew a floor could help with things like that, but I would say that’s p r e t t y cool if you ask me. It looks great, feels great, and has benefits beyond it looking dang good in our house….SIGN ME UP.
Overall, we love this flooring. We love this room! It was a fast installation with minimal supplies, which made for one very cost effective DIY flooring project! It transformed the upstairs bedrooms, and I truly do not have enough good things to say about it. If you are looking for an inexpensive way to spruce up a room, LOOK NO FURTHER. Try out Tarkett Transcend SureSet, I promise you will not regret it. I love how this room is coming together, and I can’t wait to finish it and move on in! Someday. Someday we will move in;) Thank you to Tarkett for sponsoring this post!
