We celebrated Lucy’s First Luau this Saturday, and it was a blast! Almost all of our families made it into town for her party, and we are so glad they did! We ended up moving the date up a couple weeks because Saturday was literally the ONLY day we could get everyone together. So Lucy may have been telling everyone she’s “whuh” and throwing up her pointer finger when everyone asked how old she was, but she’s still my 11 month old babyuntil next Tuesday;)
Since our home is currently a crazy mess of construction, my mom was nice enough to let me throw Lucy’s party at their house. It was so much better than attempting to throw it elsewhere, and she also made most of the food, so yeah…..we hit the jackpot there. I had so much fun planning this party and even though I was running around like a chicken with my head cut off, I am so happy with how it all turned out! Shane whipped out his Hawaiian shirt (that I can’t get enough of by the way), and his parents came decked out in their own Hawaiian get up. They are the best. I shared all of the links for the decorations and everything else at the bottom of this post, scrooooll on down to check them out.
Okay, Lucy’s outfit. Holy MOLY I am obsessed. When I decided on a luau theme, I knew that I wanted a fun little two piece, but they were all so expensive! I ended up finding this one on Etsy for $18…only $18!!!! It was handmade straight from Hawaii, and so well made. I couldn’t be happier with it, and I want her to wear it every dang day! Look at it. Ugh.
I ended up making Lucy’s smash cake and cupcakes, and they turned out much better than I would have expected;)I picked up the cake stands from Hobby Lobby, stuck some drink umbrellas in the cupcakes, and boom. Done! They were quick and easy, and Lucy LOVED the frosting. She really didn’t eat too much of the cake, but that’s because she was waaaaay too focused on the frosting. Homegirl went to town. The food was great. The desserts were great. The day was great!
The weather was wonderful all day long, and we finally had the chance to hangout outside without sweating our buns off! Lucy opened her presents with us and made an “ohhh” face with every single one. She is such a ham, and knows how to wrap everyone around her finger. Everyone. She is so spoiled by our family and friends, and I really don’t know how we got so lucky with her. She’s got the joy, joy, joy, joy! We had such an unbelievably fun time with our Lucy girl, and I can’t believe that she turns ONE in just nine days! I AM NOT READY.
